AIM Manual > AIM > Getting Started >

AIM classes accidents, incidents and near misses into two levels of classification these being Types and Categories.

Types and Categories can be located in the Admin and Support ribbon.

Types are the major classification, and AIM is distributed three types as standard, these being;

1.Accidents

2.Incidents

3.Near-miss

Example of the various meanings given to accidents, incidents and near-misses;

ACCIDENT:           An undesired event that results in harm to people damage to property or loss of property.

INCIDENT:           is a relatively insignificant event that MIGHT have serious consequences. In incidents, there is neither serious injury nor death but might be some damage involved.

NEAR-MISS:           is an unplanned event that did not result in injury, illness, or damage - but had the potential to do so. Only a fortunate break in the chain of events prevented an injury, fatality or damage.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The drop-down boxes for the Drill Down search facility sort on a numerical / alphabetical order.  Using a special character @&#([ etc., at the beginning of a field names, for example (Major) Accident or #Minor-Accident may cause the drill-down search to return incomplete records...
